2011 edition of the Post Office’s City Cost Barometer
Eastern Europe’s Best Stag weekend destinations
Monday, May 02, 2011

The 2011 edition of the Post Office’s City Cost Barometer revealed the best value city destinations are all located in Eastern Europe, and Stag weekend organisers Eclipse Leisure know exactly what to do in each of the Top 5 destinations.

The range of activities available to Stag weekends visiting Eastern Europe destinations is vast. Destination of choice for many Stag weekends in recent years, Riga topped the Post Office’s Travel Money service barometer, with the comparative cost of food, drink and accommodation making it the best value for money – and the location for some very unique Stag weekend activities. Eclipse offers a plethora of fun for the ultimate Stag weekend. From ‘Kidnap the Stag’ (every bride’s worst nightmare) to quad bike paintball, this is definitely not the destination for the faint hearted.

Estonia’s beautiful capital city Talinn took the number two spot and in at number three was Prague, which keeps its reputation as a Stag weekend mecca almost probably entirely due to the fact the beer is only £1.41 a bottle! The many breweries and eclectic mix of people means Prague retains the allure of being one of the best places to spend that last weekend of freedom.

Budapest may be budget destination number 4 but the city already boasts many more beautiful accolades. Eclipse Leisure suggests some glorious sightseeing opportunities, as Stag groups can opt for a river cruise down the Danube, while enjoying the company of stunning girls.

Warsaw and Krakov are ideal European Stag weekend destinations – Warsaw was 5th on the barometer with a bottle of beer denting your pocket at just £1.34.

With so much on offer just a short haul flight away, it is easy to get carried away, and it’s worth taking good advice from a dedicated stag weekend organiser as this can really make the difference between a good weekend or a mediocre one – or a financial disaster. Eclipse Leisure’s owner Alasdair Adam says "These may be ‘budget’ destinations but they can end up costing more than you expect. It is essential to book with a reputable company – Eclipse was one of the first Stag and Hen companies to attain ABTA and ATOL bonding, and our staff are all knowledgeable, experienced event organisers ensuring your weekend is the best it can be, not simply admin staff sending you off to a nightmare abroad!"

Having been in the business since 1999, Eclipse Leisure are one of the UK’s longest-standing stag and hen companies, and they full understand the importance of booking your last weekend of freedom, home or away, with a reputable agent who can give you honest advice and value for money.
