European Regions Airline Association
ERA launches interactive airline route map
Thursday, May 05, 2011
The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) and global travel data and distribution experts Innovata announced today the live launch of the first dynamic and interactive route map of the ERA airline member network.

Innovata is providing ERA with the latest release of its market leading mapping service which has been specially configured for ERA so that all destinations, direct routes, schedules, and a comprehensive timetable display for all current member airlines are dynamically plotted and displayed for users searching and querying the networks and schedules of ERA member airlines.

The latest map version from Innovata provides users with a range of feature and functionality upgrades including improved zoom and pan capabilities together with links through to Google maps for all airports featured in the map displays.

The map also highlights some impressive statistics, illustrating the importance of the intra-European air transport network for the mobility of EU citizens. Specifically the map demonstrates that:
-  ERA airline members collectively serve 483 cities across Europe linking over 3000 city pairs
- Route distances range from 13nm to 2,833nm.
- The network spans Mehamn in Norway in the north, to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in the south, Kangerlussuaq Airport, Greenland in the West and Norilsk, Russia in the east.

Richard Thorne, Managing Director of Aviation Business at Innovata said: “we look forward to a long term relationship with ERA and we are delighted to have the opportunity to provide them with our mapping service to help promote their members’ route networks to a wider audience through these highly visual map displays”.

Mike Ambrose, Director General of ERA said: “ERA is delighted to have worked with Innovata to offer this innovative mapping and timetable service that will not only benefit our members but provides a valuable visual representation of the extensive network operated by ERA member airlines each day. The map clearly demonstrates the importance of the intra-European air transport industry; no other transport mode offers such a vast and interconnected network of services, and no other network can provide the vital accessibility required by some of the more remote regions of Europe.  We look forward to discussing further initiatives with Innovata to see how we may enhance these benefits to our members.”
