New New Zealand campaign targets German-speaking market
Tuesday, July 05, 2011
Tourism New Zealand is undertaking a new testimonial-style campaign involving German comedian and actor Bernhard Hoecker to target the German-speaking market.

The initiative aims to raise awareness and interest for New Zealand as a travel destination through a broad-based, interactive media campaign that will share authentic experiences Bernhard Hoecker will garner when he travels to New Zealand in Spring.

General Manager Western Long Haul Markets Gregg Anderson said the campaign will leverage Tourism New Zealand's 100% Pure You within the German-speaking market.

"By Bernhard Hoecker sharing his personal experiences, it builds on our New Zealand 100% Pure You message really well.

"Everyone already associates New Zealand with pristine and beautiful natural scenery, but Bernhard Hoecker will show potential travellers how a New Zealand holiday really feels and that everyone can have unique experiences in the country."

For the past decade Bernhard Hoecker has appeared on popular German television and comedy shows. He has also acted in numerous films, including the German translation of Shrek Forever After, providing the voice of Rumpelstiltskin.

In the year to May 2011, 65,037 Germans have visited New Zealand.
