The number of the air passengers increased in May in Russia

According to the Russian Aviation Authorities, the total passenger traffic of the Russian air companies increased by 11.1% in May 2011 in comparison with May 2010, announces ATOR Analytical Service.

The domestic transportation continues to demonstrate more active rate of the growth: the increase of the domestic flights was noted for 11.2% in May 2011, the increase of the international flights amounted to 5.6%.

Just to remind, a positive dynamics was noted for the international flights (24%) in January 2011, however the dynamics became negative in February 2011 (-4%). The fall of March amounted to 9%. In April the positive dynamics was noted again.

Despite the tendency of the growth, the seats occupancy of the international flights decreased: the percentage of the occupancy of the passengers’ seats decreased by 0.5% in May 2011 and amounted to 80.8%. The rates of the growth of the domestic transportation increase actively. However the occupancy of the seats decreased by 3.1% and amounted to 69.2% in May 2011.

The TOP 5 of the companies in number of the transported passengers during the period from January to May 2011 remained the same: Aeroflot, Transaero, Sibir, UTair and GTK Rossiya. However, noting the long distance of the transportation, NordWind takes the 5th place.
