Vueling develops the most advanced iPhone app in Europe to buy flights
Wednesday, July 13, 2011
Vueling, the new generation airline, has developed the most advanced and innovative application in Europe to purchase flights through iPhone. The app enables users to book flights to any Vueling destination and take advantage of all added value services offered by the company.

This new channel represents a further step towards Vueling's ambitious strategy to establish and consolidate itself in the new channels that have become basic tools for selection and buying. In 2008, Vueling launched the mobile portal https://m.vueling.com, which was relaunched earlier this year with full functionality and adapted to all types of mobile devices. Sales through this channel have doubled compared to last year owing to the range of services being offered to travellers: Purchase of flights, changes, seat selection, search for special offers, etc...

In this context, the company has developed the iPhone application, now available in English at the Apple Store. The app allows, with a simple and intuitive interface, online check-in and downloading boarding passes, seat selection, changing time and/or day of travel, and direct access to the Customer Service Centre and other useful phone numbers. The application also retrieves data from old bookings to expedite purchases if users log in as ‘myvueling’ members. The airline is already adapting the new app to be used with Android, Google’s operative system, and it is working to implement new improvements based on geolocalization, or alert systems for flight status and changes.

At the same time, Vueling is the first European company that presents a fully integrated search engine that users can incorporate into their profiles and use to book flights. Available in nine different languages, ‘Vueling Search Engine’ can easily be shared with friends or followers via blogs or websites.

The fact that Internet and mobile phones are the major search engines for passengers make companies look for new ways to reach them. Printouts of pages via mobile are growing about 30% in Europe and reach figures, according to various studies, of more than 50 million impressions per month of which 52% are made through iPhone and 48% through the Android operating system.

The Facebook widget, the recently improved mobile site, the new application for iPhone and the developing application for Android, further underline Vueling’s position in leading technological changes in the aviation sector. Both through the new application and the mobile portal, Vueling passengers have access to the fastest and most useful services from their mobile.
