Singita Grumeti Reserves, which is located along the Western corridor of Tanzania’s legendary Serengeti National Park, was named best hotel in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine’s World Best 2011 Awards. Four luxury properties in Tanzania were among the Top 20 Lodges and Resorts in Africa and the Middle East selected by Travel + Leisure magazine’s readers, as well. 

Dr. Aloyce K. Nzuki, the Managing Director of the Tanzania Tourist Board, in commenting about the large number of Tanzania winners, said “this demonstrates that Tanzania is increasingly being recognized for its growing number of world-class properties and its luxury safari product. Tanzania aims to provide the best travel experience possible to every visitor to our country. We are proud that the Singita property was ranked number-one hotel in the world” Dr. Nzuki added, “in addition to offering an outstanding luxury product, Singita Grumeti has been instrumental in local wildlife conservation, such as sponsoring the project to return endangered East African black rhinos to Tanzania."

The other properties in Tanzania designated World’s Best are Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp, Serengeti National Park; Serengeti Migration Camp; Serengeti Sopa Lodge, and the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.
