Aviareps strengthens market position in South America with fully-owned subsidiary in Chile
Friday, July 22, 2011

Aviareps continues its ability to provide clients with direct access to an ever expanding portfolio of overseas market territories following the establishment of a fully-owned subsidiary office in Chile. From the office premises in the centre of Santiago, the global aviation and tourism representation company provides best management services for national and international aviation and tourism clients looking to directly access and professionally engage in the Chilean market. The Chilean company subsidiary currently handles a client portfolio of eight airlines (Brussels Airlines, Czech Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, LOT Polish Airlines, El Al Airlines, SAS Scandinavian Airlines and Hong Kong Airlines) and one car rental company (Thrifty Car Rentals).

Alberto Besa is the recently appointed General Manager to oversee the business development of Aviareps Chile Ltda. Alberto brings more than 17 years of hotel and airline industry experience. A son of a former Chilean diplomat, Alberto graduated in Tourism Management at the Algonquin College in Ottawa, Canada and in 1994 commenced his career in the hotel industry working in several positions before joining Delta Airlines in 2001. At Delta Airlines, Alberto immersed himself in the airline business, initially working in the reservations department followed by a stint in airport handling and finally as Account Manager.

For Michael Gaebler, CEO and Chairman of the Aviareps group, the establishment of a fully-owned subsidiary in Chile was an important strategic step to further strengthen the company’s presence in South America. “In the past, Chile has proven to be a very challenging yet promising market for us. After years of working with a franchise partner it was a logical conclusion to establish a fully-owned subsidiary. With this new business development we are not only extending our international network, but also adding more local manpower to it. Thus, we can ensure our valued clients even more added value and satisfaction than before.”
