The Vanilla Islands, constituting of the Indian Ocean destinations of La Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Comoros, and Seychelles, has launched its online presence through the different social media networks to further the promotion of the islands.

Tourism professionals and the public at large can now find all the information and news about the Vanilla Islands in both English and French on the popular social media Twitter and Facebook.

Tourism news of the Indian Ocean Zone, as well as updates on the Vanilla Islands project, is now available through the island group’s Twitter account, which can be found at http://twitter.com/#!/LesIlesVanille .

Those interested can further be linked with members of the Vanilla Islands, which can also take them to the islands’ tourism board official websites, through its Facebook account at the following link: www.facebook.com/les.iles.vanille .

The Vanilla Islands concept was initiated by the Indian Ocean Islands’ Tourism Boards in a bid to revitalize and bring greater dynamism to the region’s tourism, as well as foster greater support and partnership between the islands.
As part of this project, there will be a guide on Vanilla Islands that will be available and distributed at all the international tourism fairs and workshops, which will explain the concepts and objective of the project, as well as presenting its members to the trade.

The project is already seeing the benefits of the islands working together. Consequently, a phone application for the Vanilla Islands has been developed by the Capricom Company, which allows the islands’ tourism boards to feature videos of their islands.

These positive developments resulting from the Vanilla Islands project will be officially launched and announced to the international press on September 20, 2011 at the upcoming TOP RESA Trade Fair in Paris.
