Ethiopian Airlines welcomes corporate travelers to GBTA 2011
Thursday, August 18, 2011

Ethiopian Airlines (ET) extends a warm welcome to the corporate travelers attending the upcoming 2011 convention of the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA). Leading the delegation from ET is Mr. Kagnew Asfaw, Director of Sales & Services for the Americas.

“I look forward to meeting with GBTA members and suppliers in Denver. Ethiopian Airlines has so much to share with all the Travel Management companies and their customers,” said Asfaw. “In the past year we have had unparalleled success in the U.S. market, and our daily non-stop flight to Addis Ababa has dramatically increased our ability to provide fast convenient connecting service to destinations throughout Africa.”

ET introduced the new Boeing 777-LR – the aircraft with the greatest range in the world – in the U.S. market in December 2010. The introduction of the 777-LR allows non-stop service from Washington Dulles (IAD) to Addis Ababa (ADD), saving business and leisure travelers several hours of flying. The new planes feature an expanded business class cabin with individual reclining seats and new onboard entertainment options. The daily daylight departures are timed to allow for daylight arrivals and to connect with other ET flights serving the most destinations in Africa.

The Star Alliance announced the nomination of ET in late 2010. After a year of systems integration and coordination, full membership will be announced this fall. This will further increase the benefits available to the global business travelers. New frequent flyer program integration, lounge access and code sharing will be available to all.

“Our goal is for Ethiopian Airlines to become the business travelers’ first choice for any destination in Africa,” said Asfaw. “Ethiopian’s experience, technology, route system and fleet, coupled with the famous hospitality of the Ethiopian people, will provide the best business airline in Africa.”
