More services from Southampton to Europe's oil capital
Eastern Airways increases Southampton-Aberdeen services
Thursday, August 18, 2011

Eastern Airways is introducing even more choice of services to benefit south coast travellers with additional non-stop direct flights from Southampton Airport to Aberdeen.

The UK’s second largest regional airline, which introduced Southampton – Aberdeen services in 2005, will increase non-stop flights from two to three each weekday in both directions from 5 September 2011.

Weekday flights will leave Southampton at 6.50am (Monday only), 9.05am (Tue-Fri), 11.20am (Monday only), 2.10pm (Tue-Thu), 4.35pm (Friday only) and 6.45pm (Mon-Thu).

From Aberdeen weekday flights will depart at 6.50am (Tue-Fri), 9.05am (Monday only), 11.50 (Tue-Thu), 2.15pm (Friday only), 4.30pm (Mon-Thu) and 6.55pm (Friday only).

A Sunday service will also continue to be offered to Aberdeen from Southampton.

“Greater convenience and choice will appeal to business commuters heading to Aberdeen,” said Kay Ryan, Eastern Airways’ commercial director. “They will be able to maximise their day visits in north east Scotland and offshore workers in particular will have more flexibility and save valuable time, while also benefiting from an early Monday morning departure to Aberdeen.”

Jan Halliday
, director of marketing & communications at Southampton Airport, commented: “The increase in flights between Southampton and Aberdeen by a third is really great news for the region’s travellers.  These direct flights will mean day-return business travel between the north east and the south is now even easier than before, with even more choice available for passengers.  The flights also provide ideal access to the beautiful south coast, Southampton’s cruise port, as well as access to London, which is just 66 minutes from Southampton Airport.  Looking ahead into next year, the services will be an easy way to access the London 2012 activities in both London & Weymouth too.”

With 16 flights a week from Southampton to Aberdeen, the service will also appeal to  business and leisure passengers heading to destinations on the south coast, including Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke, Winchester, Bournemouth, Salisbury and the Isle of Wight.

The regional airline, which was formed more than 13 years ago, is consistently rated one of the UK’s most punctual scheduled airlines and has a fleet of 30 aircraft flying from 21 airports in the UK, Ireland, Norway and France.

Passengers flying with the airline are not charged for check-in, baggage, choice of seat or onboard drinks and snacks.  Check-in closes just 20 minutes before the departure time and all passengers can use the dedicated fast track security channel at Southampton and Aberdeen airports to avoid any queues.
