The new winter timetable at Munich Airport will come into effect on Sunday, October 30, 2011. For the period up to March 24, 2012, the airlines operating at Bavaria's international hub have scheduled more than 150,000 flights, which matches the previous year's level. This winter, passengers using Munich Airport for business or personal travel can choose from routes operated by 100 different airlines, serving 206 desti-nations in 68 countries.

One highlight of the new winter timetable is the first-ever scheduled ser-vice at Munich Airport with the world's largest passenger aircraft now flying, the Airbus A380. Starting on November 25, Emirates will be flying the gigantic aircraft on its afternoon flight to Dubai to meet the rising demand on that route. Lufthansa will also be operating an Airbus A380 in the pre-Christmas season on daily flights to New York at 11:45 a.m. from December 6 to December 12.

In the coming winter timetable Lufthansa will add two flights a week on its long-haul routes to the Asian metropolises of Hong Kong, Mumbai and Singapore and to Boston and Sao Paulo. As a result, for the first time these destinations will have daily services in the winter season as well. In addition, Lufthansa will extend its Singapore service by flying on to the Indonesian capital Jakarta. With the addition of one weekly flight there will now be six departures a week to Charlotte, North Carolina, in the USA. Starting on October 31, Lufthansa's flights to Riyadh in Saudi Ara-bia will be extended to Jeddah, and be operated with an Airbus A340, which is much larger than the business jet previously used.

On European routes, Lufthansa will double its service to the Romanian city of Cluj to two flights a day, and will increase the number of daily departures to the Polish port city of Gdansk from two to three. The total number of seats offered by Lufthansa this winter on flights departing from Munich is up by 4 percent as compared with last year's winter sea-son.

Traffic from Munich to Moscow continues to expand, with Aeroflot, Rus-sia's largest airline, adding five weekly flights to bring the total to 21. The airline S7 is also increasing its services to the Russian capital from seven to 10 departures per week. This winter SAS will resume daily flights to the Norwegian capital Oslo.
