Tourism Australia’s Dreamtime 2011
Sydney prepares to dazzle Dreamtime buyers
Thursday, November 17, 2011
Sydney is gearing up to host to all 72 business events buyers as the combined program of Tourism Australia’s Dreamtime 2011 event kicks off in the harbour city. Business Events Sydney (BESydney) has put together a program to ensure that the participants experience the best of Sydney - Australia’s #1 business event destination.

Dreamtime is Tourism Australia’s business-to-business trade marketing event for international incentive agents and media, which is this year delivered in partnership with Qantas and Business Events Sydney. The two-day Sydney program will be the first time that all 72 buyers are in the same location. Split into smaller groups, they have been exploring other Australian destinations since Sunday.

“The buyers are in for a real spectacular in Sydney. BESydney and our local stakeholders are pulling out all the stops to showcase why our city hosted incentive programs that have brought over 25,000 delegates to our shores last financial year,” comments Lyn Lewis- Smith, Acting Chief Executive Officer of BESydney.

“Sydney’s success in the incentive market cannot be contributed to our icons and our natural beauty alone. Companies are attracted to our city’s ability to make the impossible possible; our dynamic business environment; and Sydney’s innovative teambuilding activities that motivate, challenge and inspire staff. This is exactly what we will be showcasing to the Dreamtime group over the next two days.”

BESydney will welcome the international buyers at a glittering harbourside celebration tonight (Wednesday) that is set to impress buyers with its unique fusion of cultural and culinary features.

“Tonight’s event will provide a real example of the unique large-scale welcome and gala dinner possibilities that exist in Sydney. Importantly, it will also highlight the collaborative network of world-class industry suppliers we have throughout New South Wales,” comments Lyn Lewis-Smith.

“In a private, harbourside marquee, the Welcome Event will set the standard for the Sydney showcase on Thursday. We want these international buyers and media to experience firsthand the inspirational activities, venues, stories and opportunities on offer in our city that make Sydney the ideal incentive destination.”

Since the beginning of the July 2011, Business Events Sydney has successfully secured 15 incentive programs for Sydney. Of these 15 companies, 6 have previously brought incentive groups to Sydney. This repeat business is testament to the harbour city’s ability to inspire staff and provide a valuable return on investment for the companies involved.
