Easyjet and brand new Icelandic airline, WOW Air, will increase accessibility from the UK to Iceland by six flights a week. The two airlines are both launching flights from London airports to Keflavik International Airport in the spring and summer of 2012.
The inaugural Easyjet flight is on 27 March 2012 and will operate three times a week from London Luton on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
WOW Air will fly for the first time on 1 June 2012. Flights from London Stansted to Keflavik will operate three times a week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with prices starting at £53 one way. WOW Air is Iceland's newest airline and focuses on flexible travel within Europe at competitive prices. The airline will also fly from Iceland to Alicante, Basel, Berlin, Copenhagen, Krakow, Lyon, Paris, Stuttgart, Warsaw and Zurich.
Just three hours from the UK, Iceland is an ideal short haul destination for friends, couples and families. The country has a huge range of natural attractions with spectacular waterfalls, shooting geysers, volcanoes and national parks. The more active can go hiking, ice climbing or snowmobiling on Iceland's glaciers and those who want to relax can head to Iceland's many geothermal pools.
Sigga Groa, marketing manager for the UK & Ireland, comments, "We are delighted that Easyjet and WOW Air are increasing accessibility to Iceland and hope that the additional flights will further increase our rising visitor numbers. We want to show visitors that they can come to Iceland for adventure, spas, culture, active sports and nightlife in just a short flight from home."
