On 30 November 2011 in Miami, USA, Estonian Air’s social media loyalty programme AirScore won a Mega Award in the category of the Best Social Media Campaign. The Mega Awards are given out by Airline Information – a leading company in organizing commercial aviation conferences wordwide. The event is the biggest of its kind on the world.
Winners of a Mega Award are decided by a Judging Academy comprised of airline and travel industry representatives. A Mega Awards recognizes marketing campaign and product development excellence by Airlines and Vendors. Awards are also given for individual professional accomplishment. Recognized commercial areas included: Loyalty, Social Media, Ancillary Revenue/Merchandising considered by the Mega Awards Judging Academy.
AirScore which was launched by Estonian Air on 27 October 2011, is unique in the world’s aviation history. AirScore aims at introducing abroad the national airline and also Estonia as destination. In addition, Estonian Air expects to increase customers’ commitment.
AirScore is also unique in the sense that it changes the idea of current loyalty programmes in the aviation world by rewarding customers and fans for being strong online advocates.?For example, by sharing on their Facebook wall Estonian Air’s offers or information on cultural and sport events taking part in Estonia. An extraordinary fact is that supporters of the airline get rewarded for advocacy without even having to fly the airline.
Estonian Air has been recognised for excellence in social media also earlier this year. The 2nd Annual SimpliFlying Awards for Excellence in Social Media honoured Estonian Air as the best airline in the world in driving revenue via social media.
The finals of SimpliFlying Awards of Excellence took place on 10 October 2011, where Estonian Air passed through to the finals after 134 nominations as the only European airline shortlisted together with Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia.
Estonian Air flies to 20 destinations in CIS, Scandinavia and in Europe, inluding recently added new destinations such as Helsinki, Riga, Jyvaskyla, Hannover and Vienna.
