SMS check-in is available on flights from Tallinn, Tartu, Vilnius and Kuressaare
Estonian Air to offer check-in service via SMS
Tuesday, December 13, 2011
Estonian Air customers can now check-in via SMS and receive boarding pass on their mobile phone. SMS check-in is available on flights from Tallinn, Tartu, Vilnius and Kuressaare.

In order to check-in via SMS, a passenger’s mobile number needs to be entered to the SMS report field while buying a flight ticket. The mobile number can be added also after the purchase on page “My trips“ http://estonian-air.ee/en/travel-information/. In case the ticket is bought from travel agency, the mobile number can be entered by the agency.

20 hours prior to scheduled departure, Estonian Air sends an SMS with flight information to passenger. Replying to the SMS with a letter “A”, the passenger confirms the SMS-registration. Estonian Air, in turn, confirms the check-in by sending an SMS in English with a link through which the boarding pass can be downloaded (Internet connection is required) and presented to the authorities when boarding the plane. SMS check-in is possible with mobile phones that can browse the web and display images, and an Internet connection for the download.

In addition to the SMS check-in service, travellers can choose between traditional check-in desks, check-in kiosks and internet check-in on Estonian Air’s homepage.

The check-in through SMS, internet or check-in kiosks is available for both passengers travelling with hand luggage as well as with registered luggage. Travellers with hand luggage only can proceed straight to the security check at the airport; registered baggage must be checked in at the baggage drop-off counter which closes 45 minutes before scheduled departure time.

AS Estonian Air, Estonia’s national carrier, provides both business travellers and tourists direct air link from Estonia to European cities. Estonian Air is the biggest operator at Tallinn Airport.

Estonian Air flies non-stop from Tallinn to 25 destinations in CIS, Scandinavia and in Europe.

The airline has recently announced new destinations for next summer, such as Helsinki, Riga, Jyvaskyla, Hannover, Vienna, Venice, Kokkola/Pietarsaari, Joensuu, Kajaani and Tbilisi. The ticket prices start at 49.9 euros, if purchased from www.estonian-air.com, including all fees and taxes, baggage, snacks and soft drinks on longer flights and soft drinks on flights that last less than 1 hour.
