Tuesday, December 27, 2011
Best Western International has broken ground on a new hotel in the city of Gunsan in South Korea. Best Western Gunsan Hotel is due to open in Quarter 3, 2013.

The 183-room hotel will add Gunsan as a new destination to Best Western’s existing presence in South Korea, which currently comprises nine hotels.

The hotel’s facilities will include a swimming pool, restaurant and coffee shop, lobby lounge, bar, fitness area, meeting rooms, business centre and car park. The hotel itself will be connected to the city convention centre. The hotel is ideally surrounded by major companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industry, Doosan Infracore and General Motors.

Gunsan, in North Jeolla Province, has commenced Saemangeum development project which is a national project to build a global city as a frontrunner of green growth. It will create 283 km2 of reclaimed land and a lake as large as 118 km2 by constructing the world’s longest 33.9km sea dike connecting Gunsan and Buan on the west coast of Korea.  Best Western Gunsan Hotel in Saemangeum will emerge as an economic hub of Northeast Asia, a location of choice for business, industry, and tourism.

“The addition of Best Western Gunsan Hotel reinforces Best Western’s commitment to continuously expanding our presence in South Korea, in terms of both number of hotels and locations. South Korea is a diverse destination of many tourist attractions and business opportunities and this is something in which Best Western is actively involved in presenting to the world’s travelers” said Best Western International’s Vice President International Operations – Asia & the Middle East, Glenn de Souza.

“Best Western Gunsan Hotel will set up a new standard as one of the top classed business hotel with help of the brand and our professionalism to be provided to customer. Best Western in Korea is recognized as solid 4 to 5 star hotel in Korea that can compete with any international hotel brands” said John Choi, the Senior Vice President of Bgh Korea, the exclusive development company for Best Western International in Korea.
