The trend to take a short break in England has remained strong over the past years
VisitEngland’s response to VisitBritain’s ‘Share Your Great Britain’ Campaign
Monday, January 09, 2012
James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive commented: “We, at VisitEngland, are fully supportive of our sister agency, VisitBritain’s call upon the British public to invite their friends and relatives from around the world to visit Britain this year. 2012 will be like no other year for this country and events like the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, and the Diamond Jubilee will help to place the destination high on the radar of literally millions of people around the world, as well as helping to encourage Brits that England is the place to be this year!

At VisitEngland, we continue to work hard to inspire the British public to take more holidays at home. The trend to take a short break in England has remained strong over the past years. From our research we know that many Brits who have taken a holiday at home felt proud about the destination they discovered on their doorstep.  We want local people to become ambassadors for their destination and tell their friends and family, wherever they are, how a holiday at home can be a fantastic experience.

To complement the VisitBritain overseas campaign, we will be launching the biggest ever domestic tourism marketing campaign in February featuring an exciting new TV ad which will promote a website offering hundreds of holiday promotions throughout the year.  In March, we kick off the holiday season by launching English Tourism Week, 10-18th, which will also be a great chance for Brits to enjoy special promotions and events at attractions throughout the country.”
