Barcelona’s International Convention Centre (CCIB) is one of the five candidates hoping to be named the best venue for organising international conferences at the prestigious Meetings & Incentive Travel Industry Awards, which will take place on the 5th of March in London.
The Catalan convention centre will compete against the Bella Centre in Copenhagen (Denmark), the Dublin Convention Centre (Ireland), the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, and the RAI in Amsterdam (Holland).
“The nomination is great news for our centre, which has become a benchmark for the events organisation industry on an international level, and it is also good news for Barcelona, which is one of the world’s top destinations for business tourism”, said Marc Rodrνguez, the CCIB’s general manager.
During its seven years of operation, the CCIB has been recognised twice at these awards. It won the silver award in 2008 and the bronze in 2009. The M&IT Travel Industry Awards are the most long-standing and prestigious in the business tourism industry and excellence is recognised and awarded on the basis of votes by readers of the British magazine Meetings & Incentive Travel.
