Aeromexico receives the first Boeing 737-300
Thursday, November 06, 2003
The first Boeing 737-300 New Generation, from the 15 of this kind that will be part of Aeromexico`s fleet, was received today in the hangar of the company in the Mexico City International Airport. This is the first step for the modernization of the Eagle Knight fleet, significantly reducing the average age of the fleet.

This is how we work for our passengers satisfaction. Our task is to make them feel at home, protected and comfortable. The airplanes Boeing 737-300 are the most advanced and reliable of their category; with broader cabins, more entertainment services, advanced technology and equipment commented Engineer Arturo Barahona, General Director of Aeromexico. Then added that one of the main reasons of this substitution is to include in Aeromexico/s fleet airplanes with new generation technology to be able to have a more flexible operation and route coverage.

Counting with these new airplanes, assured Engineer Barahona, has not implied a real disbursement for the company. In reality, we are using a lease mechanism called Sell and Lease Back, which consists in buying the airplanes to Boeing, and sell them immediately in an electronic operation to a tenant who at the same time leases us the airplanes. More than a disbursement, it is an operative lease he explained.

The new airplanes that since today and all through 2004 will become part of Aeromexico`s fleet have blended winglets, that reduce drayage weight, increase the fuel efficiency and reach, and at the same time, they contribute to the environment protection. The Boeings 737-300 will give Aeromexico the flexibility for the jets to cover practically almost 90% of the company`s destinations, without the operations restrictions that the other airplanes have.

During the event, Engineer Barahona recognized the work of all the employees, pilots, flight attendants, technical and land personal, as well as all Aeromexico`s collaborators. He alluded the company`s 15th Anniversary, occasion that is being celebrated with this important fleet modernization, which brings a substantial improvement to the services and productivity of the airline.
