UK issues travel advisory for Greece
Monday, June 12, 2000
Britain has issued a travel advisory<.> for citizens planning to visit Greece following the fatal shooting of UK military attache Stephen Saunders in Athens by a terrorist group last Thursday.
The UK's Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO<.>)suggests that British travellers take sensible security and safety precautions while visiting Greece. It did point out, however, that the majority of the 2 mil.-plus British tourists who visit Greece annually "enjoy trouble-free visits". It further states: "British visitors should bear in mind that there has been terrorist activity recently against British diplomatic interests in Athens."
