Air fares from Greece to Cyprus drop
Monday, September 06, 1999
With new private airlines ready to fly the Greece-Cyprus air route, the monopoly players there, Olympic<.> and Cyprus Airways, substantially drop prices on the route.
From the first of this month, prices range from 45,000 drachmas to 73,000 drachmas compared with 54,000 drachmas to 195,000 drachmas charged last month. Price reductions depend on the time of flight and early bookings.
For example, the most expensive fare (73,000 drachmas) is for day flights but that fare drops to 56,000 drachmas for evening flights. And when bookings are made 10 days in advance, the day-flight fare drops to 50,000 drachmas and the evening flight fares drop to 45,000 drachmas.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
