Friday, July 16, 2004
The Annual General Meeting & Summer Party for the International Special Events Society (ISES) UK Chapter saw the inauguration of Philip Hughes as President last week, taking over from Arthur Somerset who stepped down after two years in the post.

Held in the stunning surroundings of the Ultimate Experience Marquee in Ranelagh Gardens, ISES UK celebrated another successful year for the chapter which has seen membership rise xx%. Philip Hughes, Managing Director of The Ice Box and the new President of the UK Chapter mapped out his plans for the next term, focusing on adding value to membership through more educational seminars and professional development.

“There has been some tremendous work put in over the last 12 months in building on the profile and the membership of the UK Chapter. I look forward to continuing the focus on continued professional development through networking events and educational seminars,” commented Hughes. “Arthur has been a terrific ambassador for the chapter and I’m looking forward to continuing the development of ISES UK”

Arthur Somerset, Managing Director of Mask Events, will now take a more active role in the European Chapter, where he hopes to continue building on the profile of the UK at an international level.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
