Egypt and Italy to launch joint tourist projects
Wednesday, July 21, 2004
Egypt and Italy will launch a new investment project aimed at a better distribution of the incoming Italian tourists, Italian Ambassador in Cairo Antonio Badini said recently.

The project, which is part of an Italian investment programme in Egypt, will help promote new tourist sites unknown to the world market, Badini added.

A large number of Italians are expected to visit these new tourist attractions on the Mediterranean coasts, the Oases, South Sinai and the desert within the coming few years.

Figures show a growing increase in the numbers of Italian tourists coming to Egypt, with Italy ranking first on the list of tourist-exporting countries to Egypt.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
