Jon Mitchell steps on board Thetrainline

TheTrainline announced the appointment of Jon Mitchell as Finance Director with immediate effect. Jon will join the Executive Board and will take executive responsibility for the finance and business planning activities within the company.

Jon, aged 33 is a chartered accountant, joins after spending four years in a variety of senior financial positions at the Virgin Group, moving from Virgin Management to Virgin USA Inc, in the US where he worked on the launch of Virgin Mobile. During his time at the Virgin Group, Jon assisted with the demerger of TheTrainline from Virgin Rail Group. He began his career with Grant Thornton, working also at West LB Bank and Home Directory Limited.

Alan Tomlin, Chief Executive Officer at TheTrainline, said: This appointment successfully completes a review of the structure of the board and will strengthen our management capability. Our objective of bringing the company into profitability has been achieved and we are well placed and on track to benefit operationally and financially from this management appointment.

I am delighted to welcome Jon to the Executive Board. His experience of working within the Virgin Group will prove invaluable in helping to deliver our growth plans as we drive the company forward. He will enhance our impressive management team.
