Friday, August 27, 2004
The Ministry of Brazil acting through EMBRATUR - Brazilian Tourist Board - makes the Brazilian Tourism Portal available in English and Spanish to the world. Its content presentation is completely directed to tourists and focuses on promoting destination Brazil, emphasizing the culture of states and regions in the country.

Each region in the country is clearly presented on the first page of the site. After choosing one, users navigate through texts, images, aspects, and may access links to the official tourism agencies of each place.

In addition to peculiarities such as typical and religious festivals, many menus point out services for tourists related to passports, vaccination as well as providing other important tips. Users may also choose from a wide range of tourist activities such as adventure, ecotourism, golf, fishing, sea and sun, business, and incentive tourism. Postcards, screen savers, wallpapers, and a wide range of images of Brazil are available. The webpage also provides official information and forms for contacting The Ministry of Tourism and EMBRATUR.

The Portal can identify through the IP - Internet Protocol - the user`s language according to the place of access. This means that in the United States, for example, the user will go directly to the country`s corresponding language. In countries where English or Spanish is not the official language, the default language becomes English.

Although the Brazilian Tourism Portal is still not completely ready, 43 of the most popular destinations in Brazil among tourists are now available. The aim is to reach 384 of these places by the end of the project of implementation. German, Italian and French versions will be available in the second semester.
