Vietnam: Binh Thuan`s tourism sector draws largest investment
Thursday, October 28, 2004
The planning and investment sector of southern Binh Thuan province is expected to receive 219 projects and applications to register investment in the tourism sector until the end of October, accounting for the highest number of the province`s total investment projects.

Of these projects, 99 with a total registered acreage of 476 ha and investment capital of 2,203 billion VND have been approved by the provincial People`s Committee. This brought the total number of valid projects in the tourism sector to 346 with a total acreage of 1,700 ha and registered capital of 5,772 billion VND.

In addition, 113 other projects and applications to register investment in tourist resorts, including Son My-Tan Thang, Bai Chua, Bung Thi hot-spring, and Tan Thuan, are under consideration for approval from now to the end of this year.

However, the provincial People`s Committee has guided the sector to check the implementation of about 100 tourism projects and find solutions to speed up their deployment.

Poll
How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
