The Hellenic Tourism Organisation (EOT<.>) has taken a great leap into the digital era, allowing it to begin offering its services online from March 2001.
EOT general secretary noted that EOT had launched efforts some time ago to establish itself within the new economy. He said tourism is influenced and is expected to be affected even further by new technologies and the Internet.
All correspondence between EOT and other parties, as well as its own staff, will be transmitted via e-mail as well as snail mail between March 1, 2001 and June 1, 2001. From June 1, internal correspondence will be transmitted only in electronic form while mail sent to other parties will continue to be sent in both forms.
A study will be undertaken in relation to the creation of a system allowing the electronic issuing of permits, which should be ready by January 1, 2002.
