SN Brussels Airlines starts own direct services to Sofia
Thursday, March 17, 2005
SN Brussels Airlines expands its presence in Bulgaria. As from the first of September SN connects the European capital with Sofia three times a week with its own RJ Avro fleet. Thanks to the partnership with Bulgaria Air, SN clients can also travel on other days of the week.

Starting the first of September, SN Brussels Airlines will operate three flights a week with its own AVRO RJ fleet between Brussels and the Bulgarian capital Sofia. The flights are operated on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The time schedule allows business travel and is an attractive city for city trips or breaks. The flight schedule also offers an excellent opportunity for ski addicts who want to discover the attractive ski facilities of Bulgaria.

During the three hour flight, clients can enjoy hot meals, drinks and an extensive newspaper offer. Privilege members can earn and spend miles on this new SN Brussels Airlines flight.

Thanks to the partnership with Bulgaria Air, the national airline of Bulgaria with whom SN is collaborating since last autumn, clients of SN Brussels Airlines can fly every day directly between Brussels and Sofia.

“We have experienced for a while now that de travel market Brussels-Sofia is growing”, says Peter Davies, SN Brussels Airlines Chief Executive Officer. “The fact that Bulgaria is a candidate to join the EU plays an important role in that trend. Moreover, the rich tourist potential of Bulgaria attracts more and more leisure travellers. With our own flights we anticipate this market growth. The time schedule is attractive for business and leisure travellers, but also for tourists who want to use SN’s dense European network via Brussels.”

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
