Barbados launches new website
Friday, May 27, 2005
The Barbados Tourism Authority has a new home on the World Wide Web. Visitbarbados.org was launched to create a fun, interactive website that is both informative and easy to use for travellers seeking information on Barbados. In addition to the traditional areas of the website, www.visitbarbados.org has many new additions, such as a Vacation Planner, which provides a comprehensive on-island information guide, as well as special offers for those looking to book a trip.

Explore Barbados gives surfers interactive maps with site locations and geography facts, while Festivals & Events features information on the island`s seven festivals (Jazz, Holetown, Holder`s Opera, Oistins Fish Festival, Congaline, Gospelfest, Crop Over) and other cultural events and celebrations on the island.

There is also guide for meetings and convention planners to research and plan a meeting in Barbados. The site also features a Travel Trade login section for agents and tour operators, with special features and offers to share with clients. The most interactive element of the site is a Chat Live function that enables site visitors to chat with a representative of the Barbados Tourism Authority and ask anything about the island.

How do you expect luxury travel to perform in times of economic downturn?.

Providers of luxury travel products are going to witness shorter stays by their customers and an increase in seasonality.

People are going to become more value conscious and will opt for those luxury offers that represent a convincing value-for-money proposition. Providers of overpriced services are those to feel the pinch.

Both people paying for their personal trips and firms paying for their top executives' business trips will cut back on travel expenses, thus affecting all luxury travel providers.

It is going to be business as usual. Those people opting for high-end travel products are not going to be affected by the looming crisis.
