Since 1200, when it was founded by Guiscardo da Pietrasanta, this little city gets to be a crossroads of world famous artists, from Michelangelo Buonarroti to Vasari until the contemporary Henry Moore, Pietro Cascella, Kan Yasuda, Jean Michel Folon, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Joan Miro or Botero. Many among them have donated works to the city, making this delightful Tuscan town, embedded in the marble quarries, a true open-air museum.

Its intimate and welcoming rooms, refined and luxurious, from which to admire the wonderful panorama of the Apuan Alps as well as the promenade of Viareggio, attract leisure and Mice tourists all year round. Its 106 rooms (87 standard and 19 suites), are located on five floors, each of them decorated in a different style. The Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte is an ideal venue for top-class conventions and meetings. The wonderful equipped rooms – Butterfly, Turandot and Musetta – have an atmosphere rich in history and charm, yet being endowed with modern technology equipment. The new “central room”, just opened, can accommodate up to 250 people.
