China’s aviation experts to deliver key insights for industry negotiations

World’s first China-Europe Air Transport Symposium.

SURREY, UK – At a time when the UK’s bilateral trade relationships have resumed critical importance post-Brexit, leading figures from China and Europe’s air transport markets will gather at the University of Surrey on 6 September 2016 to share and discuss with delegates the process for successful China-Europe air service development.

The one-day symposium, organised by the University and consultancy MIDAS Aviation, will deliver practical advice to support the commercial objectives of airlines, airports, economic decision-makers and travel companies looking to build effective and long-lasting relationships with China’s aviation industry.

Drawing on the experience of senior Chinese and European aviation, tourism and marketing experts with first-hand experience of working in China and selling to Chinese businesses and consumers, the symposium will deal with the intricacies of doing business with China. Topics to be covered include the process of effective relationship building with purchase decision influencers, how Chinese airlines plan air services to Europe, how to support launched services and how to increase appeal to the Chinese outbound market.

The symposium will consist of a series of presentations and round table discussions led by Chinese and European experts including Jianfeng Sun, president, Hainan Airlines; Stephen Wang, president, Spring Airlines; Phil Callow, CEO, OAG; Matt McDougall, CEO, Digital Jungle; and Patricia Yates, director, Strategy & Communications, VisitBritain.

Zheng Lei, director, Centre of Aviation Research, University of Surrey also joins the list of speakers. Lei says: “By 2020, some 100 million Chinese nationals will travel overseas each year, making China the most valuable outbound tourism market on the planet. Whilst the European aviation sector continues to show considerable interest in the Chinese market, it needs to understand how the Chinese aviation sector operates and the nuances of the market in terms of how decisions are made. Building relationships with decision makers is an intricate affair. We have organised this symposium for delegates to gain a clearer understanding of the opportunities available in the Chinese market and to leave with effective strategies for achieving progress.

John Grant, founder, MIDAS Aviation says: “Now more than ever, our relationships with China are of the utmost importance. Together with the University, we have identified a true need in the aviation market for a learning event such as this. We have engaged a heavyweight line-up of speakers who also want to see the aviation industry progress. We are confident of tackling some of the big issues and providing valuable insights into one of the fastest growing markets in the world for aviation services.

The one-day symposium will take place at the University of Surrey on Tuesday 6 September 2016.

The China-Europe Air Transport Symposium is sponsored by OAG, the air travel intelligence company.
