Courtyard San Francisco Downtown names new General Manager to lead major renovation project

Hospitality veteran Amy Arbuckle takes the reigns at the hotel near AT&T Park, which will get reimagined guest rooms and meeting venues during remodel.

SAN FRANCISCO – Summer might be wrapping up, but exciting new changes are just beginning at Courtyard San Francisco Downtown.

The hotel near AT&T Park and the Embarcadero will be undergoing major renovations in the coming months and has named Amy Arbuckle to lead the project. The new general manager brings 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry to the Courtyard hotel.

Guest rooms at the Downtown San Francisco hotel will be totally new, with updated furnishings arranged to maximize space. Wall coverings, carpets, beds and lighting will all be replaced, resulting in a sleek ambiance that will resonate with even the worldliest traveler. Newly tiled entryways will provide a clean, modern welcome to the Golden Gate City, and walk-in showers in king guest rooms will offer an extra touch of contemporary comfort. Sofa beds will boast thicker, more luxurious mattresses – ideal for groups traveling to the Bay Area.

Several high-tech updates are in the works as well. Additional power outlets and USB ports will be added in all accommodations, especially around in-room work stations. Travelers will also be able to take advantage of state-of-the-art internet TVs equipped with Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and Crackle, enabling instant entertainment no matter the time of day or night. Complimentary high-speed internet will continue to be provided in all guest rooms and suites as well as throughout the hotel's public spaces.

Additionally, the hotel's 20 meeting venues – ranging from intimate boardrooms to spacious conference halls – will be getting a facelift. Meeting planners and event attendees can expect to see new carpeting, wall vinyl and window coverings during their social or professional gatherings. Venues will also feature permanently mounted LCD projectors and screens, perfect for seamless business presentations and sentimental slideshows.

Guest room renovations will begin this December, but the meeting space updates have already been completed.

In the midst of the remodel, the hotel named Arbuckle as the top Marriott official at the hotel, effective Aug. 1, 2016. Arbuckle started her hospitality career as a front-desk associate at a DoubleTree hotel in Albuquerque, NM before breaking into sales and marketing. Her most recent position was at San Francisco Marriott Fisherman's Wharf, where she served as general manager for more than four years while significantly growing revenue and guest satisfaction scores. A Boston native, Arbuckle lives in the Bay Area with her husband and son. In her spare time, she enjoys competing in triathlons and rooting for the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
