MUMBAI – Ethiopian Airlines will start thrice weekly services to Istanbul with the latest B737-800 New Generation with Sky Interior, as of its winter schedule. Istanbul is the largest European city and Turkey’s historic, industrial and financial capital.
Commenting on the planned launch of the new flights, Ato Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO Ethiopian Airlines, said, “We are pleased to launch new services to Istanbul. Turkey being one of the fastest growing countries among the emerging economies, availability of seamless connectivity options would further catalyze the channeling of investors from both countries and make their business more facilitated. Moreover, our new flights to Istanbul will complement the daily services being provided by our Star Alliance partner Turkish Airlines. Our new flights will also enable our valued customers to make immediate connections to 52 African destinations with minimum hours connecting time in Addis Ababa.”

Ethiopian Wins African Airline of the Year 2016 Award
Ethiopian Airlines also announced that it has won the African Aviation ‘African Airline of the Year’ Award for 2016 during the 25th Anniversary African Aviation Air Finance Africa Conference & Exhibition and African Aviation Summit held on May 11, 2016 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The award was presented to Ethiopian in recognition of its financial performance, fleet modernization, route network expansion, in-flight service, overall customer care and its outstanding contribution to aviation development in Africa.
Commenting on the award, Mr. Mesfin Tassew, Chief Operating Officer Ethiopian Airlines, said, “We are pleased to win the ‘African Airline of the Year 2016 Award’, which is a testimony of Ethiopian 70 years of commitment to bring Africa together and closer to the rest of the world.
