JOI-Design honoured as Interior Design Company of the Year, Europe in Luxury Travel Guide Awards

A number of European interior designers were nominated by industry professionals to be shortlisted for the award. JOI-Design was chosen as winner by Luxury Travel Guide’s in-house jury for its scope of beautiful, high quality projects and work to advance the hospitality industry.

LONDON – International hospitality interiors studio JOI-Design has won acclaim as Interior Design Company of the Year, Europe for 2017 in the Luxury Travel Guide’s newly launched Hospitality Management Awards.

The Luxury Travel Guide provides readers with an overview of top quality holiday destinations, hotels, spas and entertainment venues around the world. Its awards programme, which has previously honoured travel-related companies such as hotels, airlines and tour operators, expanded this year to acknowledge excellence in hospitality management.

A number of European interior designers were nominated by industry professionals to be shortlisted for the award. JOI-Design was chosen as winner by Luxury Travel Guide’s in-house jury for its scope of beautiful, high quality projects and work to advance the hospitality industry.

Peter Joehnk founded interior architecture studio JOI-Design in 1984, and alongside his business partner and wife Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk, the duo has grown the Hamburg-based practice into one of Europe’s leading creators of refined and luxurious interiors for high-end, privately owned and independently operated boutique hotels as well as branded luxury groups.

From the glamourous decor at the film-star haven of JW Marriott Cannes to the streamlined allure of the Mercedes-Benz Living @ Fraser serviced apartments in London and Singapore and the recent European debut of Curio – A Collection by Hilton at Hamburg’s legendary grand dame, the Reichshof, the skilled team translates emotions into unique works of hospitality couture: remarkable hotels, sensational restaurants and gorgeous spas that guests don't want to leave and will return to again and again.

Peter and Corinna have co-authored numerous hospitality design reference books and recently launched Products by JOI-Design, their product design division exploring creative partnerships with furniture, lighting, carpeting and wallpaper manufacturers. In 2014, the studio was also honoured with a Gold Key Award for their design of the Hotel Kompetenz Zentrum near Munich, a concept gallery from which hoteliers can “shop” amongst diverse styles of guestroom, bathroom, and public area FF&E options. JOI-Design is also the Patron of the on-going TOPHOTELPROJECTS World Tour, a new series of networking events taking place in some of the hospitality industry’s most influential cities. The first stop, London, enjoyed substantial success, with future locations of Miami, Dubai, Singapore, New York and Berlin on track to do so as well. Tailored specifically to the issues and trends shaping each locale along the circuit, thought-provoking presentations and debates from respected movers and shakers will examine the synergy between global and regional marketplaces.

“We are delighted to be recognised as a leader amongst Europe’s hospitality interior design studios”, Peter and Corinna explain. “Our team is passionate about creating luxurious designs that immerse guests in comfort and style, and we look forward to bringing our sense of European aesthetics to other continents around the globe.”
