Ryanair launches record East Midlands summer 2017 schedule (up 4%)

Three new routes to Budapest (3 weekly), Girona (2 weekly) andReus (2 weekly).

Ryanair launched its biggest ever East Midlands summer schedule (2017), with 3 new routes to Budapest, Girona and Reus, which will deliver 2.5m customers p.a. and support 1,900* jobs at East Midlands Airport, as Ryanair grows its East Midlands traffic by 4% in 2017.

Ryanair’s East Midlands Summer 2017 schedule will see more frequencies to sun destinations, lower fares (as Ryanair passes on lower fuel costs), and an even better customer experience, as it rolls out year 3 of its “Always Getting Better” customer experience programme, and will deliver:

  • 3 new routes to Budapest (3 weekly), Girona (2 weekly) and Reus (2 weekly)
  • Extra flights to Menorca (3 weekly) & Malta (3 weekly)
  • 37 routes in total
  • 2.5m customers p.a. (+100,000)
  • 1,900* “on-site” jobs p.a.

Ryanair will continue to connect East Midlands with popular sun destinations on low fare services including Alicante (3 daily), Malaga (2 daily) and Palma (2 daily), with better timings and lower fares, making Ryanair the ideal choice for UK customers.

In East Midlands, Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Robin Kiely said: “We are pleased to launch our 2017 East Midlands summer schedule (our biggest ever), which includes 3 new routes to Budapest, Girona and Reus, and 37 routes in total, which will deliver 2.5 million customers p.a. and support 1,900* jobs at East Midlands Airport.

Customers can look forward to even lower fares when they make advance bookings for summer 2017, so there’s never been a better time to book a low fare flight on Ryanair and we urge all customers who wish to book their summer 2017 holidays to do so now on the Ryanair.com website, where they can avail of the lowest fare air travel to and from East Midlands.

Also, Ryanair further expanded its London Luton winter 2016 schedule with a new route to Cagliari, starting in January, which will operate twice weekly and will increase to 3 times weekly from April as part of Ryanair’s summer 2017 schedule. This is in addition to 5 new London Luton winter routes to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Murcia, Tenerife & Vilnius, which will deliver 1.9m customers p.a. and support 1,400* jobs at London Luton Airport.

Ryanair’s London Luton winter 2016 schedule will deliver:

  • 1 new route: Cagliari (2 wkly)
  • 5 new winter services to: Fuerteventura (2 wkly), Gran Canaria (2 wkly), Murcia (3 wkly), Tenerife (2 wkly)  & Vilnius (4 wkly)
  • More flights to Kaunas (daily)
  • 18 routes in total
  • 1.9m customers p.a.
  • 1,400* “on-site” jobs p.a.

This new Cagliari route is ideal for both business and leisure customers, who can now choose from 18 Luton routes in winter 2016, all on the lowest fares and look forward to further improvements under Ryanair’s “Always Getting Better” programme, which includes more new routes, new digital features, new cabin interiors and even more low fares.

Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said: “We are pleased to launch a new twice weekly London Luton to Cagliari route starting in January as part of our winter 2016 schedule, which will increase to a three times weekly service as part of our summer 2017 schedule. This is in addition to 5 new winter routes to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Murcia, Tenerife & Vilnius, which will deliver 1.9m customers p.a. and support 1,400* jobs at London Luton Airport.
