What do you expect the impact of war to be on your segment?
Best case – Americans take advantage of deep discounting and increased repositioning of cruise ships from overseas to domestic ports as well as flexible refund policies to travel in numbers nearly equal to a year ago. Gas prices quickly stabilize at or below current levels to encourage drive vacations.
Worst case – Rapidly escalating gas prices, at least in the short term, and random acts of terrorism cause Americans to suspend all but necessary travel. Hardest hit would be overseas travel but even domestic travel would suffer due to the fear factor and dramatically higher airline ticket prices.
What actions do you expect your segment to take to help business?
AAA is developing new drive products and expanding existing ones to respond to Americans’ desire for trips closer to home. AAA also will work with preferred travel partners to offer AAA members special discounts on domestic cruise, tour and other travel packages.
