AnadoluJet arrives at Budapest Airport

Utilising the carrier’s B737s, AnadoluJet’s service to Turkey’s largest city will join Budapest’s existing links to Antalya, Izmir and Istanbul, with the Hungarian airport now offering nearly 6,500 weekly seats to the peninsula that bridges Europe and Asia. Budapest Airport has also celebrated the inaugural flights of two Wizz Air routes this week.

AnadoluJet, a subsidiary from Turkish Airlines, launching its first operation from Budapest Airport with its three-times weekly link to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen. Celebrating the inaugural flight with a warm welcome, Budapest’s latest airline partner opens the Turkish market further for the airport’s customers.

“With numerous transfer options within Turkey, travellers will also have convenient connections through our newest carrier’s network from its hub,” explains Balázs Bogáts, Head of Airline Development, Budapest Airport. “Having already experienced success on this route, we’re confident AnadoluJet’s link will be in high demand from both business travellers as well as tourists from both countries.”

Budapest Airport better connected with Wizz Air
Budapest Airport has also celebrated the inaugural flights of two Wizz Air routes this week. As the home-based carrier connects Hungary to Moldova for the first time since 2012, the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) also reconnected Budapest to the province of Valencia.

The warm welcome of the airline’s service to Chişinău, was quickly followed by today’s return of a link to Castellón, the majestic mountainous municipality in Spain. Operating twice-weekly services on both routes, Wizz Air will utilise its A320 and A321 aircraft on the operations.

Offering 160,000 seats throughout the summer season, on 61 routes, Wizz Air has played a significant part in Budapest’s recovery to pre-pandemic volume as the Hungarian gateway’s route recovery approaches 100%.

Balázs Bogáts commented: “To add a new location on our route map and witness another reconnection from Wizz Air in the same week is a clear sign of the opportunities we have worked to develop. We’re extremely expectant of the success of both these links.”
