Each January, Andrew Harper recalls the travel experiences of its editorial staff from the year prior, focusing on the hotels and resorts that proved the most memorable. In 2017, Andrew Harper editors flew more than 125,000 miles, visited 16 countries and stayed in nearly 150 hotels. Of those, very few were selected to be recommended hotels and even fewer have the honor of receiving a Grand Award.
In addition to the Hideaway of the Year and Favorite Hotels of the Year, the 2018 Grand Awards include Restaurants of the Year, Hospitality Awards, Best Amenities, Hotel Standouts, Best Travel Experiences and Indelible Memories. To be considered for Andrew Harper's Grand Awards, properties must be relatively small in size, possess strong personalities and demonstrate a consistent devotion to personal service. Hotels must also have been reviewed in a 2017 edition of The Hideaway Report. Andrew Harper's team of editors evaluate properties using decades of travel experience, going beyond a checklist to distinguish the truly enchanting from the merely excellent.
