Aviareps achieves group’s best ever result in 2010/2011 financial year

Aviareps can look back on an extremely successful 2010/2011 financial year. The international representation company for aviation and tourism achieved group sales of 87.2 million euros in the period 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011. The group was therefore 16.5 per cent above the previous year’s value of 74.8 million euros. The equity ratio also increased to 44 per cent.

“This is the best ever result in the company’s history,” explains Michael Gaebler, founder and chairman of Aviareps. “And I am particularly proud of this because we exceeded our plans despite natural catastrophes such as the ash cloud over Europe and the tsunami in Japan and in spite of political turmoil in North Africa. But difficult situations like these are the best challenge for us as a service provider with global operations. Our flexible portfolio of services enables AVIAREPS to adapt very quickly to changed market situations – and thus ensure consistently high standards of quality.”

Aviareps was able to acquire a total of nine airlines and a further eight tourism clients as new customers in the 2010/2011 financial year. In addition to this, 25 customers extended their agreements to include new markets or services. The introduction of the air travel tax in Germany and Austria enabled Aviareps to add a new service to its portfolio, and since the beginning of January 2011 it has been officially representing international airlines – currently 14 customers – as an “authorised tax agent”. Aviareps has also established itself as an IBCS specialist and provided support in the last financial year for 42 airlines. The company operates internationally and currently represents a total of 88 airlines and a further 91 tourism companies worldwide.

It was not just the customer portfolio that showed positive results – the group’s growth efforts around the world also saw significant developments: the last financial year was characterised in particular by an expansion of its market presence in America and Europe. Aviareps thus opened two new subsidiaries in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Santiago de Chile (Chile) as well as in Istanbul (Turkey).

Aviareps also merged in the UK with the specialist tourism marketing agency CircleSolution Consultants Ltd. and established a new joint venture in the USA together with the airline representation business Airworld Alliance. This increased the total number of AVIAREPS’ subsidiaries and branch offices to 43. The number of employees increased in the same period and now stands at 450.

A further significant increase in sales and earnings is also planned in future as the company grows. “Now that Aviareps has successfully gained a foothold around the world we will continue to step up global market development. For example, we will shortly be opening new organisations in Brazil and the Baltic states,” comments Michael Gaebler on the further international aims for the company in the current financial year. “Regardless of our efforts at achieving growth, our greatest priority will be on ensuring added value and satisfaction for our customers. One way of ensuring this is our newly established international management trainee program. This is how Aviareps trains up-and-coming management talent to become leaders who understand the needs of our customers and who can surprise them with creative proposals.”
