Berlin-Schonefeld Airport summer Flight Schedule 2016: 81 airlines flying to 177 destinations in 54 countries

The Summer Flight Schedule 2016 goes into effect on 27 March, when 81 airlines will connect Berlin and Brandenburg with 177 destinations in 54 countries.

When the school holiday starts, the people from Berlin and Brandenburg will be heading out for their Easter break. Airports will be more crowded as well. The Airport Company is expecting more than 1.37 million passengers at Schonefeld and Tegel Airports during the two holiday weeks (19 March to 3 April 2016), 12.5% more passengers than in the Easter holiday break in 2015. Many of the travellers will be drawn to the beaches of the Mediterranean as well as to the popular city destinations. Preferred Easter holiday destinations are Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Tel Aviv, Malaga and Catania. The Summer Flight Schedule 2016 goes into effect on 27 March, when 81 airlines will connect Berlin and Brandenburg with 177 destinations in 54 countries. Besides numerous destinations in southern Europe, the new routes to France and Great Britain will be of special interest to business travellers and holidaymakers.

Passenger information for Berlin-Schonefeld Airport

  • Terminal C: Travellers who have already checked in and are travelling with carry-on luggage only can go straight to the three high-speed security checkpoint lanes and use the automated boarding pass checks in Terminal C. All of the departure gates can be reached from here.
  • Directions to Schonfeld: The Landesbetrieb Strassenwesen Brandenburg will be doing repair work on the Federal Road B96 in the access areas to and from Schonefeld Airport until 20 May. Access to Terminals A–D is assured throughout the entire period of the roadworks, but the traffic routing will be changed and diversions will be set up. We urge passengers to allow more time for their trips to and from the airport when travelling by car. Travellers will find detailed information about routes at berlin-airport.de. Passengers travelling by bus will also be affected by the diversions because the bus stops in the vicinity of the Schonefeld railway station will be relocated during the construction period.

Services for passengers

  • Travel to airport: We urge all travellers to allow more time for the trip to the airport and their time at the facility. We also recommend the use of public transport to the airport.
  • Online schedule information: Travellers will find an overview of all of the flights to and from Schonefeld and Tegel at berlin-airport.de.
  • WiFi: Passengers and visitors to Schonefeld and Tegel Airports can surf the internet free of charge for 60 minutes. Activate the WiFi reception on your device and select the network “Free Airport WiFi”.
  • Berlin Airport app: Passengers can obtain all of the important airport information for Schonefeld and Tegel by using the “Berlin Airport” app (Android and iOS). Travellers who have activated Bluetooth will receive push messages containing information for orientation and their time at the airport.

Compact overview of new airlines from Schonefeld and Tegel

  • Wizz Air, one of the largest low-cost airlines in Europe, will be operating direct flights between the German capital and Skopje from 21 March 2016. There will be two flights a week to Macedonia’s capital city. The flights will depart from Berlin-Schonefeld every Tuesday and Saturday.
  • The Russian airline S7 Airlines will fly a new route from Berlin to Moscow from 27 March 2016. Planes will initially be taking off five times a week from Tegel and heading for Moscow-Domodedovo Airport. There will be flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until May 2016, at which time the schedule of daily flights to the Russian capital will begin.
  • Starting on 29 March, Nordic Aviation will be flying from Tegel to the Estonian capital Tallinn. There will be a total of four flights a week on this route — Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Between 24 June and 26 August, the airline will fly to the Estonian capital on Mondays and Fridays as well.
  • The Dutch airline Transavia will be moving from Berlin-Tegel to Schonefeld on 29 March; it will continue to offer flights to Rotterdam/The Hague Airport six times a week.
  • From 2 May 2016, Blue Air will be flying from Tegel to Turin-Caselle on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Starting 22 July 2016, Wizz Air will connect Schonefeld Airport with Cluj-Napoca, Romania’s second-largest city, twice a week – Mondays and Fridays.
  • As of 23 September, Wizz Air will initiate its third route from Schonefeld and connect Berlin with Kutaisi in Georgia. Flights to Georgia’s second-largest city will take off on Mondays and Fridays.

New routes from Tegel
Eleven domestic destinations, 107 European destinations, 14 intercontinental connections (eight of them long-haul flights) and increases in frequency in the TXL Summer Flight Schedule offer outstanding connections to the world. New routes:

  • Starting on 25 March, the British airline flybe will be operating four flights a week from Tegel to Sheffield/Doncaster Airport in northern England. Planes will be flying the route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
  • From 27 March, airberlin will be flying once a day from Tegel to the Bulgarian capital Sofia.
  • Jerez de la Frontera in Spain will be served by one airberlin flight a week as of 29 April.
  • airberlin will be flying from Tegel to the British Channel island Jersey every Saturday as of 30 April.
  • Starting on 14 May, Berlin’s largest airline will also be flying once a week (always on Saturdays) to the Croatian port city Dubrovnik. One day later, airberlin will add a second route to Croatia. Split will then be on the schedule on Wednesdays and Sundays.
  • British Airways will be flying to two more airports in London from 19 June. Up to three flights a day will take off for London City Airport. In addition, the airline will operate flights once a week from Tegel to London’s Stansted Airport.
  • From 5 July, the airline Turkish Airlines will fly every Wednesday from Berlin Tegel to the city Gaziantep in eastern Turkey.

European route network from Schonefeld continues to grow
A total of 31 airlines will have flights leaving Berlin-Schonefeld in the summer flight schedule. Passengers can choose from among two German, 85 European and ten intercontinental destinations. The following routes are new:

  • easyJet, the largest airline at Schonefeld Airport, will add two new routes (Bordeaux and Pristina) from 27 March. The flights to the French city, known first and foremost for wine, will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The capital city of Kosovo is on the schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Starting on 1 April, Tunisair will again (always on Fridays) be flying from Schonefeld to Tunis and Djerba. The route to Enfidha starts one day later; flight day is Saturday.
  • Ryanair will add three new routes from Schonefeld at the beginning of April. The new route to Pisa (three times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) will be inaugurated on 1 April, and from 3 April there will be two flights a week (Thursdays and Sundays) to the Mediterranean island of Malta. One day later, the Irish airline will start flying to Zadar in southern Croatia (twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays).
  • Germania will have flights to the Turkish port city Bodrum every Thursday from 5 May. Starting on 30 May, the Berlin airline will operate flights from Schonefeld to Burgas on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast every Tuesday.
  • As of 10 May, easyJet will fly to Toulouse in southern France three times a week – always on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • easyJet will also start serving the Sicilian city of Catania on 28 June, flying on Tuesdays and Fridays.
