Cologne Tourist Board goes live with new website

Target group-focused, user friendly and with a completely new design: Following extensive reconstruction, Cologne Tourist Board announced the relaunch of its website, koelntourismus.de, and introduced several additional functions.

KolnTourismus GmbH enhanced its corporate design with a three dimensional flair, giving its website a brand new face. The website expresses the motto "Cologne is a feeling" through image, text and layout elements. Travel to the city is inspired right on the homepage, where real-life citizens of Cologne?such as a brewery Kobes (specially trained waiter), a zookeeper and a Domschweizer (stationed cathedral attendant)?explain what the city means to them in brief video clips.

The website is distinguished by its simple navigation based on easy-to-use menu bars. This allows various target groups to obtain information easily, efficiently, and based entirely on their personal interests or needs. Word clouds containing the most important key words like "Cathedral", "Culture" or "Tickets" assist visitors in getting to the desired information quickly said the Board.

"The incorporation of "Google Maps" means that museums, churches, parks and other tourist attractions can be displayed directly on the city map. Using a toolbar that is always available on the website margin, visitors can book flights and hotel rooms. Access is to the Online Shop, City Tours and Event Tickets is also provided. The connected booking systems of HRS and germanwings allow globetrotters and locals alike to book travel to other destinations, too."

Greetings from Cologne can be sent anywhere in the world with digital postcards, also known as e-cards. As an additional function, the Vacation Planner allows visitors to plan a trip to Cologne based on their own specific interests. By ticking the preferred sights and events, visitors can create and later printout a personalized PDF. To gain an initial, well-rounded impression of Cologne, the "Best of Cologne" has been collected and placed in a convenient digital photo album.

In addition to the extensive section orientated to end consumers, a separate section is immediately available to professionals in the tourist industry. Travel and trade fair/convention planners can promptly find information on local interests, general programmes and the right contact partner. Local service providers post information about potential opportunities for collaboration.

The Cologne Tourist Board website will be initially available in German and English; other language versions will follow shortly.
