In a report on the increase in the number of tourists from the Arab countries, Tourism Minister Dr. Mamdouh EI-Beltagui declared that further liberalization of the airline policies in Egypt was good for the national economy.

Such an increase in the number of tourists couldn`t have happened without some Arab airline companies operating regular and charter flights directly to the Egyptian tourist destinations, he said, pointing out that the January 2004 figures are so promising.

For the first time in Egypt`s history, the number of tourists exceeded 0.5 million tourists; during the month of January, 2004, with an increase of 41.3% compared to January 2003.

Regarding the number of tourist nights, they hit 6.3 million nights, marking an increase of 129.1 % compared to January 2003.
