EL AL Israel Airlines adds six nonstop flights to meet high Holy Day demand

EL AL, Israel`s national airline, gets ready for the Jewish High Holy Day season, beginning with Rosh Hashanah

EL AL, Israel`s national airline, gets ready for the Jewish High Holy Day season, beginning with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

To accommodate the increased traffic during the Jewish holiday season, EL AL has added six nonstop flights between New York and Tel Aviv, in addition to its regular schedule of 21 weekly nonstop flights JFK & Newark to Israel. EL AL offers the only direct service (with no change of planes) from Chicago (Mondays & Wednesdays), Miami (Tuesdays & Thursdays) and five flights a week from Los Angeles (Sunday through Thursday).

In celebration of the Rosh Hashanah tradition, more than 10,000 slices of apples and 625 pounds of honey will be served on EL AL flights from the USA to Israel during this holiday period.

It is a tradition of EL AL to share the holiday spirit with our passengers, stated Michael Mayer, General Manager, North & Central America, EL AL Israel Airlines. We are delighted to see our passengers celebrate the New Year on a sweet note, with a trip to Israel on EL AL, Israel`s national airline.

Chef Avner Niv, Executive Chef of Borenstein Caterers, EL AL`s in-flight caterer and daughter company, will prepare an Israeli New Year favorite – Golda Meir Honey Cake – for passengers flying from New York, Chicago and Miami.

Borenstein Caterers is dedicated to offering unique healthy in-flight menu options, including authentic Israeli treats to EL AL passengers. We are delighted to prepare this traditional New Year treat for those traveling EL AL this holiday season and hope our passengers will be inspired to create it at home, said Chef Avner Niv, Executive Chef, Borenstein Caterers.
