The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and VDR, the German business travel association, announced a formal partnership after a successful one year trial which commenced in 2011. The deal between the associations will see VDR act as the German partner to GBTA in Europe. As part of the deal, Mr. Hans-Ingo Biehl, VDR’s Executive Director, will fulfill the role of lead advocate for GBTA in Europe as part of his VDR role.
Paul Tilstone, managing director of GBTA in Europe, said, "This is a very special announcement for GBTA. It demonstrates the value the Germans can clearly see in being part of the GBTA family in Europe and beyond. We are delighted the partnership trial was such a success.”
Mr Biehl said, “Providing global connections, a buyer-led agenda and a coordinated advocacy approach in Europe are all important to our members and GBTA has developed all of these areas significantly in Europe over the last year. We are delighted to be a part of GBTA Europe’s future.”
