Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau announces new COO

Aedo will continue to assist in the day-to-day operation of many aspects of the organization and further support external stakeholder relations. 

Miami – The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has promoted Rolando Aedo to Chief Operating Officer (COO) announced William D. Talbert, CDME, GMCVB president and CEO.

I am delighted to announce the promotion of Rolando to COO of the GMCVB,” said Talbert.  “Rolando has been functioning for some time in an expanded role which aligns with the responsibilities of COO.  His commitment to professionalism, accountability and teamwork, as well as his passion for excellence and innovation are attributes that will contribute to the success of the GMCVB as we look to the future.”

Aedo will continue to assist in the day-to-day operation of many aspects of the organization and further support external stakeholder relations.  He will also take the lead on expanding high priority GMCVB initiatives, establishing new strategic programs and long-term plans to ensure the GMCVB continues to remain at the forefront of the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) Industry. With the support of the Marketing Team, he will also remain closely engaged in the development of the GMCVB’s global marketing programs.

Aedo has been with the GMCVB for more than 22 years in a variety of capacities, serving most recently as Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer.  Under his leadership, the marketing team has achieved many successes and awards in marketing Greater Miami and the Beaches as a top world-class leisure and business destination.  Among recent and ongoing efforts is the launch of the new Miami Beach Convention Center, which will fully open in fall of 2018.

Aedo holds undergraduate degrees from both Miami Dade College and Florida International University and a Masters in International Business Administration from the University of Miami. He speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and some French.  Additionally, Aedo achieved the designation of Certified Destination Marketing Executive (CDME), the highest educational achievement in the DMO Industry.
