LOS CABOS, MEXICO – REPORT – Hotelbeds, the No. 1 global bedbank, concludes today the 7th edition of the MarketHub Americas event, celebrated in Los Cabos, Mexico, from the 5th–8th of October, 2015. Over 550 experts from leading segments of the travel trade industry attended this prestigious event that brings together leading travel trade players from twenty different source markets from across the Americas. The event offers a dynamic yet informal environment of presentations, networking, hospitality and entertainment.

The 2015 theme “We love simple”, focussed on the benefits to the travel industry of fusing technological innovation with an obsession for simplifying the booking cycle across the travel value chain.

Carlos Muñoz, Managing Director – Bedbank.

In his opening presentation Carlos Muñoz, Managing Director – Bedbank, echoed this theme explaining how the concept of customer centric simplicity has also become an increasing focus for Hotelbeds in its drive to further adapt its services to the need of its travel trade partners. He continued by thanking all the clients and partners in attendance for their collaboration during 2015; another strong year for Hotelbeds with double digit growth registered across all regions.  Carlos went on to highlight many of the trends that are impacting  the industry; setting the foundation for the following presenters who expanded on many of these same themes in greater detail.

Enrique Turcott, President of the Association of Hoteliers, came next. He applauded the resilience of the  local industry explaining how Los Cabos had come back stronger than ever after the devastation of the hurricane Odile late last year. Since then major investments in hotel refurbishment and the establishment of new hotel concepts had created an exciting product portfolio to compliment the natural beauty of the region. Norm Rose, Senior Technology and Market Analyst at PhoCusWright followed. He provided a fascinating overview to the latest industry trends, with a strong focus on the increasing relevance of technology as a driver of simplicity and differentiation.

Other presenters at this dynamic  event included Kevin Carl, Senior Client Managing Director at Accenture; Miguel Ángel Fañanas, Enterprise Director at Telefonica; Paulina Loeza Tinoco, International Sales Manager at Grand Fiesta Americana; Kidist Grznar,  Assistant Director at Wynn / Encore; Erica Valbuena, Director of Leisure Sales for Atlantis Resorts; Andrés Martínez Reynoso, Marketing Director at Interjet; Swapnil Shah, owner of Ramada Plaza Orlando; and Leonel Reyes, Corporate Director of Sales at Hard Rock Hotels; among others. A particular highlight of the event was the special, interactive session with the creative leadership company ‘Upping your Elvis’ that focussed on how real value can be generated through a combination of creative thinking and a philosophy of simplicity.

Carlos Muñoz commented: “Under the banner ‘We love simple’, this year’s MarketHub event aimed to highlight the need now more than ever for the industry to be focussed on delivering a more attractive customer experience across the entire booking cycle. In addition this event proved once again to be a  fantastic opportunity for our key partners to meet with the Hotelbeds’ team, network with like-minded industry decision makers and stay up to date on the latest trends in our industry; all of this in the magnificent resort of Los Cabos.”

Hotelbeds selected Los Cabos as its 2015 Market Hub destination partner as a show of support after witnessing the devastation caused by the hurricane.

Located in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, Los Cabos has always been renowned for offering high-end properties that respond to the demands of even the most demanding traveler. In 2015 alone, post-hurricane, it is predicted that more than $1.4 billion USD will be invested in existing and new properties to ensure that Los Cabos continues to maintain its leading position.

Hosted in a different destination each year, the MarketHub has become a global forum for the key industry players of the tourism industry.
