Ker & Downey Africa announce partnership with Schultz

Schultz will for the first time feature a number of African destinations including South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania as well as Mauritius and Seychelles.

African Safari Tour Operator, Ker & Downey Africa has entered into a partnership with Schultz Operadora Group that will help attract more Latin American visitors to Africa. Schultz is one of Brazil’s largest outbound travel companies, servicing over 13,000 travel agencies (consisting of 36,000 individual agents) across Brazil and the wider Latin American market. The partnership was officially announced at the ABAV travel show in Sao Paolo, Brazil’s largest trade travel show on 24th September 2014.

In previous years, Schultz has focused its marketing efforts on outbound travel to the United States and Europe, with over 4,000 passengers travelling to Europe every month with the company. Now, following its partnership with Ker & Downey Africa, Schultz will for the first time feature a number of African destinations including South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania as well as Mauritius and Seychelles.

This private sector business partnership supports SA Tourism’s strategy of unlocking the lucrative Latin American market with tourist arrivals from Brazil alone growing 44.7 percent year on year, from 54,183 tourists in 2011 to 78,376 tourists in 2012. SA Tourism has recently opened a new office in Sao Paolo to facilitate its marketing efforts in Brazil.

Schultz is targeting the expanding Brazilian middle class, which has historically perceived Africa to be an expensive destination, with packages that showcase the unique proposition offered by destinations like South Africa in terms of quality of experience and value for money.

As one of Brazil’s largest distributors, Schultz has a significant online and offline distribution infrastructure that enables the company to reach a broad spectrum of the Brazilian market.

“Brazil is an exciting and fast growing market for South Africa and our partnership with Schultz Operadora Group will give us a deeper understanding into what drives this market, allowing us to design great value travel offerings that resonate with the Brazilian and wider Latin American market,” says Jonathan Berton, Market Manager South America, Ker & Downey Africa.

Schultz is committed to expanding the presence of African destinations in its global portfolio of destinations and believes that its partnership with Ker & Downey Africa will help it establish a strong African business. Schultz plans to distribute its first Africa focused brochure featuring exclusive Ker & Downey 2015 packages covering 13 African and Indian Ocean Island destinations, including South Africa.

“Africa is on our side, it is stunning, friendly, welcoming, unexplored, warming and exciting. Schultz will show to Brazilians and Portuguese that this is a destination that can be visited throughout the whole year, with fair/reasonable prices. By partnering with Ker & Downey Africa, we have chosen a team of travel experts who call the remarkable continent of Africa their home.  Schultz will offer luxury, incentives as well as the affordable and accessible. Through Schultz, Africa will become a much easier destination to visit. Our service is so easy, fast and secure that exotic for Brazilians will be not buying Africa from Schultz,” says Aroldo Schultz, from Schultz Operadora Group.
