Rainforest Cruises introduces Zafiro – A new luxury riverboat in the Peruvian Amazon

Early bird luxury Amazon river cruise special from Rainforest Cruises.

UNITED STATES – Rainforest Cruises are delighted to introduce the arrival of a new luxury Amazon riverboat – the Zafiro which is set to make its maiden voyage in October 2015. Zafiro – the spanish for sapphire (a type of precious stone) – is a state-of-the-art vessel with all the modern amenities you’d expect of a luxury riverboat, plus some more.

With capacity for 40 passengers and stylish in design, her 20 spacious suites will feature all mod-cons, with air-conditioning, ensuite bathrooms and magnificent views from floor to ceiling windows and their private balconies. Being the sister-ship of the ever popular Amatista, passengers can also expect the same highly-trained expert guides, hospitality and attention to detail on board.

The Zafiro will operate fixed 4, 5 and 8-day departures, as well as a 9-day package (with extra nights in Lima) to the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve – an area unrivaled for wildlife – allowing you to explore deep into the heart of the rainforest.

Her proud owners had this to say about the vessel: “The Zafiro, more than a gem, is a style of sailing down the Amazon River. It’s is a floating five-star hotel that will take you to the world of the Pacaya-Samiria, where you can admire the beauty of the National Reserve from the comforts of a circular jacuzzi on the observation deck or your very own private balcony, indulge in some R&R in the massage room on board, or even work out in the neighboring exercise room. Our chefs will delight your palate with Amazon fusion cuisine and our guides bilingual naturalist guides will reveal the mysteries of the jungle, explaining the history of the reserve, its traditions, and the details of the ecosystems and life within it.”

Our favorite features, and what really distinguishes this boat from others in the Peruvian Amazon, would be the rangy observation deck’s circular Jacuzzi, a special fully-accessible suite for disabled passengers, and the fact that every suite has their own private balcony, not to mention relaxing spanish style showers and magnificent floor to ceiling windows for excellent unimpeded viewing pleasure (a top tip would be to try to get one of the four master suites that also have 90 degree views!). The availability of paddleboards is also a nice feature and those that like to unwind with an ice cold beer will be delighted to find out that beers (as well as natural juices and sodas) are all included in the price.
