Renfe-SNCF and the Toulouse Office of Tourism now closer with the Renfe-SNCF in cooperation high-velocity trains

Toulouse Metropole, the Toulouse Office of Tourism, and Renfe-SNCF have presented the travel figures between Spain and Toulouse as well as the initializing of the Spain-Toulouse service for 2019.

BARCELONA – Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation, Toulouse Metropole, and the Toulouse Office of Tourism have announced the 2019 schedule for the trains connecting Barcelona with the city of Toulouse from April to September each year, with stops in Figueres, Girona and Barcelona.

On this occasion, Toulouse was the chosen city to host the presentation of new developments and traveler statistics. Of note was the presence of Mr. Yann Monod, director of Elipsos Internacional (Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation) and that of Mrs. Sylvie Rouillon Valdiguie, Vice-president of Toulouse Metropole and of the Toulouse Metropole Promotion Agency, and head of Tourism jointly with the mayor of Toulouse, Mr. Jean-Luc Moudenc.

Renfe-SNCF is reestablishing the direct connection between Catalonia and Toulouse with its TGV Euroduplex high-capacity trains (509 seats), in order to meet travel demand for the spring and summer period.

In 2018, 52% of travel was between Toulouse-Barcelona, and the rest from departure / at destination of other French Cities (Carcassonne / Perpignan) and from departure / at destination Girona and Figueres Vilafant. 

Over 50% of demand is concentrated in the months of July and August, with the purpose of the majority of trips—rising to 96%—being tourism, leisure or personal.

As for travelers’ country of residence, the largest segment traveling between Catalonia and Toulouse were French (48%), followed by travelers from other countries (35%) and from Spain (17%).  

Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation, along with the Office of Tourism of Toulouse, carries out different communication and promotional campaigns with the aim of developing these destinations in the Spanish market. In 2018, various press trips were organized to discover the two cities, resulting in over 117 articles in the media.  

The Barcelona-Toulouse trajectory joins these cities daily with a direct train in each direction, allowing a comfortable trip from city center to city center. Travel time from Toulouse to Barcelona is 3 hours and 12 minutes.

Renfe – SNCF in Cooperation
High-speed rail links a total of 21 cities between Spain and France, providing very competitive travel times and maximum comfort.  With transit speeds reaching 300 km/h (186.4 mph), the Toulouse and Paris lines operate TGV Euroduplex trains and the Lyon and Marseilles lines AVE S-100 trains. 

Tickets are available for purchase on railway administration websites SNCF and Renfe (OUI.SNCF and Renfe.com), as well as from the usual channels at Stations and accredited Travel Agencies.
