Renfe – SNCF in cooperation to increase the frequency of the high-velocity train between Paris and Barcelona

With the aim of covering the rising demand, Paris and Barcelona will be connected with four trips per day this summer.

The high-velocity Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation trains are expanding their offer with a new interval on their timetable, thus reinforcing the connection between Paris and Barcelona along a 6 hour 19 minute route with four trips per day in both directions.

From June 30th to August 26th there will be a new train time, leaving Paris at 4:07 PM and returning to Paris Gare de Lyon from Barcelona at 7:05 AM, featuring new stops in the French cities of Sete (2 hours 45 minutes from Barcelona), Agde (2 hours 29 minutes from Barcelona), and Beziers (in 2 hours 15 minutes), cutting travel time significantly and offering a new transportation option to the southern French cities of Valence, Nimes, Montpellier, Narbonne, and Perpignan in the direction of Spanish cities Figueres, Girona, and Barcelona.

Since 2013 Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation has linked 21 international destinations, carrying passengers between the following city centers: Madrid, Zaragoza, Tarragona, Barcelona, Girona, and Figueres in Spain and Perpignan, Narbonne, Beziers, Agde, Sete, Carcasson, Toulouse, Montpellier, Nimes, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Marseilles, Valence, Lyon, and Paris in France. Throughout the year, the countries are connected by four trips per day, rising to five in the spring and up to seven in the summer high-season, comprising a network of 64 connected stations.

Since the launch of high-velocity international travel in December of 2013, as of December 2017 over 3.4 million international passengers have made use of it. Currently, the international traveler profile along the 4 routes breaks down as follows: French residents make up 36%, 21% are Spanish residents, and the remaining 43% consists of residents of other countries.

These two leading high-velocity rail operators have aligned themselves with the international traveler, collaborating with the best of their knowledge, experience, and know-how to connect a total of 21 city centers across Spain and France.

The train features all manner of amenities, including a bar, table seats, electrical outlets at all seats, space for passengers with reduced mobility, etc. Passengers are also free to move around the coach and train and have the option of bringing up to three pieces of luggage on board. All of these conveniences make for a relaxing, stress-free trip during which to enjoy the beautiful views along the route.
